I'm surprised people ask about what August was doing with the book and not WHERE... He was restoring the book. Restauration process includes: dismantle the book, drycleanning, washing, binding again... He didn't bring with him all the equipment needed on his bike, so where is he working?

Is it possible that he has a room at Granny’s and that’s where he was working? It didn’t really look like it, though.

I’m totally ignorant about the restauration process, so thank you for confirming that’s what he was doing! :)
